Pulaski Academy announces a new high-level athletic training program called PA1. The program is being implemented this year for student athletes in grades 5 through 12.
"It's designed to increase speed, power, strength, agility and explosion, while integrating and teaching team building, leadership training, character, sportsmanship, and our four core values," says Athletic Director Kevin Kelley. There will also be times for athletics to focus on specific sports as well.
For 5th grade, the program will be an introductory program during PE class to give each student the opportunity to experience the basics of the program and find out if they want to continue in PA1 the next year.
For 6th grade, the program will be optional for any student who wants to work and develop in the areas mentioned. The program will take place during the designated PE class, and students who elect to be in PA1 will do it during this time.
For grades 7 through 12, PA1 will be integrated into the athletic period that the student athletes are enrolled in. "Many of our student athletes already take part in extra training outside of school," adds Kelley. "This will allow them to use their time during PE classes at the middle school ages to supplement this training.
"For the upper middle school and high school athletes, it ensures that they will be able to continue to work on their athleticism during season instead of just during offseason.
"PA1 will be an integral part of our athletic success for the individuals and for the teams going forward," says Kelley. The PA1 programs is generously underwritten by D1 Sports Training and Hefley & Associates.
